Just wanted to say how impressed I have been so far with Family Swim Gym's presence at the pool so far this year.
On my first weekend at the pool, last weekend of April, i was greeted by the lifeguard who signed me in and by the one sitting in the chair. he strolled around the pool, talking to guests and informing them of the new changes. He was also quick to address problems as they arose: inappropriate swim attire, running by the pool. it was not tolerated.
On subsequent weekend visits I have also been impressed. Lifeguards are quick to let rambunctious children know not to run, not to splash sunbathing guests up at the deep end, and provide an overall sense of safety.
Last weekend I did something I have never done, I entered the pool when there was obviously a full blown graduation party going on in the clubhouse section. I got a chair on the far end and was able to enjoy the pool. Several lifeguards (more than 2, i think i counted 4) were monitoring the pool, the party, etc.
I am so happy with the new pool and the lifeguard presence. Thank you HOA for doing this, I was very in favor of it at last fall's HOA meeting and I am even more so now.

I agree completely with this. And would be willing to pay an extra monthly fee to keep up this kind of attention. The pool was so bad previously - unruly kids/teens, people letting people in who aren't even from the neighborhood.
The two guards this weekend were friendly, kept an eye on things and I saw them multiple times remind kids not to run and also refuse entry to people without key cards.
I applaud the changes also.
Yes the pool changes are all great but some are a little rediculous. We dont all have super model bodies. Both male and female. And for people not to be able to swim with a over shirt or something is kind of silly. Also, the hours? You do know we are in the summer time right? Kids are on summer vacation. Not the parents So by the time parents get home we have an hour or so to go and use the pool? The lifeguards leave at 8pm which is fine. They can put up the chairs and all that but i do think the pool hours need to be extended to at least 9 or 10... It is the summer and after all, it is OUR money we are spending for this amentity.
I am glad that the pool now has lifeguarding and monitoring. It is now an enjoyable place to be at and a true asset to the neighborhood. I also do not think the pool hours are ridiculous either. Many other neighborhood pools do not stay open even as long as ours does and they are only open when lifeguards are there. Some other neighborhood pools close at 6. Right now, the pool opens in the morning and the guards are not there till noon. So To stay open till 8 I think is great.
The pool is TOO SMALL for a neighborhood of this size. Consider another pool or expand.
8 is too early for summer schedule. When people have full work schedules it is hard to get to the pool before they close and we are not allowed to have any pools of our own in our backyard as it is against HOA. So should we working people who don't work 5 minutes from the community or work at home quit our jobs just to be able to use the community pool we are already paying to maintain? Just seems very silly that summer is closes so early- I am all for the lifeguards.
I understand that our HOA finally wanted to do something about the neglect that went on last year at our pool. However, ridiculous is the word this summer. Have some balance people. Families get off of work near six & get to the pool by 7pm & we close @ 8PM? give me a break. One more ridiculous NEW rule I had to explain to my kids when we went to the pool today & were not allowed in is : Only 2 people per family are allowed?????!!!! It was myself, my 3 daughters & my nephews that are visiting for a couple of days & we were denied entrance. What the hell do I pay for?? To be denied access to " my well taken care of of HOA rules "? so taken care of that I am not allowed access?
I applaud no access without key cards, however, regarding the lifeguards, did you go with teenage girls? ... I don't recommend you do.
Yeah I applaud the pool now being worth using, but the lifeguards can be a bit excessive. They work for US correct? I understand no cut-off shorts, jeans, etc. But If I'm wearing a shirt to ensure that I don't have a skin cancer recurrence, they can call the police to remove me if need be. And yes they could certainly be more respectful in general. I have a feeling these must be different life guards that they wort 5/21 when Anonymous started this topic.
Six or eight trips to the pool this summer and my family has yet to have a pleasurable experience. Aside from being difficult to understand the lifeguards are rude, condescending, and are inconsistent with their rules. We’ve experienced a life guard try to tell us we’re drowning our children when the kids were clearly laughing and playing; no one was in distress, under water, coughing, etc. I’ve seen a lifeguard tell a child their basketball style shorts were unacceptable swim attire yet previously the same child with the same shorts on was allowed to swim with no harassment. We’ve been at the pool when they called a 10 minute break at 7:30 PM “so the adults could swim” when not only did the pool close in 30 minutes, leaving only 20 minutes left to swim after the break, but there were only families present who would not be leaving their children unattended on the side of the pool to swim; no one swam in the pool during that 10 minute break. I had a life guard trying to show me a rule on the bulletin board because I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say, this was on the same paper that says to swim at your own risk because there’s no lifeguards on duty. Unreal. I had another parent tell me to be sure to call the HOA regarding my issue because the supervisor of the lifeguards wouldn't return their phone calls, something I unfortunately experienced first had as well. I understand the need for safety and to keep unruly children in check but what’s going on at the Pioneer Crossing West pool is deplorable to the point that I dread taking my children there.
Regarding the comment about the guest policy from 7/15/10, here's the scoop- from the PIONEER CROSSING WEST POOL RULES document available from this website:
"Guest Policies
A PIONEER CROSSING WEST OWNERS ASSOCIATION member must accompany a guest. Guests are limited to two (2) per family. If you need to entertain more than two guests, please call Goodwin Management at 502-7506 to make arrangements.....Individual(s) who are NOT Pioneer Crossing West Owners Association members, may only be invited under guest status four (4) times per year."
I have no problem with this rule, considering that I rarely use the pool and pay the same assessment as the other home owners.
